WHITE ENAMEL CAMARO REDLINE WE
Description: Gauging interest, as I have decided to let one of my WE Camaros go. It’s in “average” shape, as these tend to go. Wheels do need an upgrade, but I personally never touch the more difficult castings. I will leave that to the new owner... this car is exactly as found. Feel free to make me an offer. Only car available is the US on the left of the group pic. These cars were tests of a modified Interior/Glass as they prepared for the next generation Heavy Chevy replacement.
By the middle of 1969, the end of the Custom Camaro run was approaching as Mattel started early to prepare the tooling for the next generation Camaro, the Spoilers Heavy Chevy, all while the Custom Camaro was still in production. Using the existing tooling, they modifyied the interior and glass to allow a larger rear wheel to fit in place of the existing medium wheels by removing two tabs that were sticking down from the interior into the inside of the rear wheel wells.
The new interior/glass combination is also slightly longer when compared to the standard Custom Camaro.
The cars tend to be very rough around the edges as the bodies never received the full de-flashing and polishing appllied to production cars.
Bases tend to be tarnished on many of these cars, they usually did not receive the extra Zinc plating.
Painted White Enamel to assist in evaluating the fit of the new parts once assembled.
No official numbers are available of how many produced, but it was common to create 100 or 200 of a casting for this type of testing. *hwprotos.com. If you need more information about this specific car, or more photos, just ask.|
